Collaborative Outreach

Community Outreach Teams partner with the community agency to determine the needs of the community to be served by the team. Our intent is to make have programming that is meaningful and impactful both to the community and our OUHS student and faculty teams. It is only through empowered partnerships that intentional programming can be designed.

Examples of Possible Services

Educational Outreach

  • On-vehicle educational demonstrations for groups of 10 at a time, multiple groups can be scheduled during a site-visit
    • Computer-based activities with laptops provided during the event
    • Microscope use, microscopes provided during the event
    • Health procedure demonstrations: suturing, trauma care, use of stethoscopes, otoscopes, etc.
    • Anatomy and physiology demonstrations
  • On-site/off-vehicle educational demonstrations for larger groups, such as classroom/auditorium demonstrations
  • Health and wellness education
    • K-12 education to small groups
    • Oral health, brushing, flossing, etc
    • Healthy diets, nutrition
    • Physical activity 
  • Outreach for future health science students
    • Career exploration
    • College admissions preparation 

Health Outreach

Note, health outreach generally will not be conducted on the MOV. This is mostly because most interventions require more space than the MOV provides. As such, the MOV will be parked at the partner location while patient care is provided in the community partner's facility. Education activities can still be conducted on the MOV while health activities occur inside the partner facility.

    • Partner provides large enough space to host the team inside their facility
    • Community members are able to receive care in a facility known to them
